Kate Gilbert is a lecturer who serves as a MDSK University Supervisor for the Office of School and Community Partnerships in the Cato College of Education. This is her 10th year in education. Prior to working at UNC Charlotte, Kate worked as a social studies teacher and mentor for beginning teachers in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Teaching and learning continue to be her lifelong passion. Kate Gilbert’s special areas of interest include: instructional coaching and mentoring beginning teachers, equity in education, and culturally responsive teaching.

Education

She was a NC Teaching Fellow and graduated in 2011 from UNC Charlotte with a degree in Middle Grades Education, with certifications in social studies and math. In 2015, she completed her Master’s Degree in Middle Grades social studies education from UNC Charlotte. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher.
